Electric and natural gas utility CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (CNP) reported Wednesday a profit for the fourth quarter that declined from last year, despite a marginal revenue growth, hurt by higher expenses. Earnings per share for the quarter came in above analysts’ expectations, while quarterly revenues missed their estimates. The company also provided earnings guidance for the full-year 2012, in line with Street view.

Engineering and manufacturing company ITT Corp. (ITT) on Wednesday reported a loss for the fourth quarter as higher revenues were more than offset by costs related to the spin-offs of the company’s defense and water businesses.
Mining equipment manufacturer Joy Global, Inc. (JOYG) reported Wednesday a profit for the first quarter that grew 39 percent from last year, helped by improved margins and strong double-digit sales growth.
